I DON’T BELIEVE IN CHURCH

Part 4

(1 Timothy 3:14-15 NCV) I’m writing…so you’ll know how to live in the family of God. That family is the church.

“The church just wants ______________.”

(Matthew 6:21) For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

(1 Timothy 6:17-19) Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

(Psalm 24:1 NLT) The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him.

(Job 41:11) Everything under heaven belongs to me.

Should Christians ___________?

(Genesis 4:2-5) When they grew up, Abel became a shepherd, while Cain cultivated the ground. When it was time for the harvest, Cain presented some of his crops as a gift to the Lord. Abel also brought a gift—the best portions of the firstborn lambs from his flock. The Lord accepted Abel and his gift, but he did not accept Cain and his gift. This made Cain very angry.…

(Romans 2:1) God’s law is written on our hearts.

(Genesis 14:19-20) Melchizedek blessed Abram with this blessing: “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. And blessed be God Most High, who has defeated your enemies for you.” Then Abram gave Melchizedek a tenth of all the goods he had recovered.

(Malachi 3:10-11) Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test Your crops will be abundant, for I will guard them from insects and disease. Your grapes will not fall from the vine before they are ripe.”

(Matthew 5:21-22,27-28) “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder…But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

(Matthew 23:23) You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things.

Giving Under Grace

(Acts 2:32-37 NLT) All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God’s great blessing was upon them all. There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need. For instance, there was Joseph…He sold a field he owned and brought the money to the apostles.

(Galatians 3:24) Let me put it another way. The law was our guardian until Christ came; it protected us until we could be made right with God through faith.

  1. Return ______________.

(Deuteronomy 14:23 LB) The purpose of tithing is to teach you always to put God first in your lives.

2. Steward ______________.

(Proverbs 21:5) The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.

3. Focus on __________________.

(Luke 12:16-21) And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. “And I’ll say to myself, ‘You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.’ But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God.”
